NP Open House

It was time once again for the annual NP Open House. The many secondary students viewing the school compound made me think back of the time when i was at their age. Felt so lost and alienated in an unfamiliar place. But things had changed ever since i entered NP. It is now regarded as my second home.
That's beside the point. In this year's Open House, i played a part in being a guide to students. Along with Baoyi and several other classmates, we stayed in a room to promote our course - Accountancy. Although the duty lasted 3 hours, everyone was extremely exhausted from continuous small talks with students [some of whom didn't even bother to listen].
"ACC is the only course which provides a 6 mth attachment programme. Unlike other polys which provide 3 mth attachment programmes. Also, in yr 3, u are given the option to stay in school to further ur studies which is the finance option where u will get to gain experience in a 2 mth industrial training programme in addition to taking several modules. This helps in the exemption of modules in Uni. As for the attachment programme, with 3 mths more experience, it prepares u for work in the corporate world. Also, allowances are generally much higher for ACC students compared to other diplomas. Accountants are always high in demand and they get hefty bonuses. They get to work in MNCs like the Big 4, banks, govt based sector...
In this 3 yr course, these are the modules which u will take. [points to brochure] There is a main module which will build up in each semester. U need not have any background in accounting to take up Accountancy because they will teach u from scratch. So, other than the main module, there are other modules which broaden ur scope like management, law, computing... which will serve to be useful when u go into the society to work. And poly is not all about studying. There are other modules like Sports and Wellness which enables u to mingle with people from other courses as well..."
That was an excerpt of what we talked about for 3 long hours. My throat was screaming for water. Refreshments were coconuts. lol. Didn't bother to take any. After duty, baoyi and i headed over to the atrium to watch Taufik's performance.
He's gorgeous and loves to electrify people, especially gals. haha. Very charismatic. His vocals were really good. He sang a total of 3 songs from his latest album and there was a game after which. 4 malay gals were invited up to stage to sing a line from any of his songs. Those malay gals were hmm... throwing themselves over him. Not very proper for a gal to do that, at least to me. Reserve some pride please. Throwing yourself over a guy makes you look shameless. Geez.. Probably i'm too conservative in this modernized world. haha
It was another 1.5 hours before the arrival of the top 4 project superstar finalists. Meanwhile, baoyi and i headed over to the convention centre to take a view and visit dickson. Being bored and not knowing what to do, we strolled over to canteen 1 to grab a drink and quench our thirst. It felt good. We went back to the ACC room [coz baoyi wanted to spot someone] lol! Oops.
After that, it was back to the atrium. We watched the song composing club perform and shortly after, baoyi had to leave. By that time, it was around 5.30pm.
It was time for tennis training! In order to drag my time, i walked over to the courts and chatted with coach. Weee~ he's going to buy me a racquet! [but i still gotta pay for it eventually haha] Near 6pm, i went back to the atrium to catch the performance of the Project Superstar finalists.
Quite disappointing. Only at 6.30pm did they then arrive. Less than 15 mins later, Diya and Daren had to rush off to somewhere else, leaving behind Carrie and Nat. It was a chat session between the emcees and the guests. Kinda sian. Midway through the show, i left for training until 9pm. Whoosh~ felt so good. Tennis rox my world!
It was dinner with the guys at Bukit Timah Market after tennis. Yums~
Home at long last...
