Mummy's Birthday

Mummy marked another year to her age. Though she's in her mid forties, she's still as chirpy and adorable. Simplistic woman with an abundance of joy to share with others. Days with her never turn bored [other than those days where she got off from the wrong side of the bed].

It was her birthday yesterday and surprises came one after another. Not knowing what present to get her, i settled it with a cake. Bro came home with a large "I Love You" cuddly cushion and an enormous card especially for Mummy. Could tell that she was beaming inside out. Haha.. Bel, being the youngest, had budget limits. Lol. Hence, she bought Mummy a packet of rojak [Mum's favourite] and a rainbow pyramid.

Mummy was really happy yesterday. Her face showed it all. In the night, Daddy treated us to a meal. It was a spread of food, so much so that there wasn't enough space on the table to place them. Yummilicious as always, all of us had our taste buds satiated.

Later in the night, cake cutting took place and we had a photo shoot using bro's digital cam. All the poses and antics we displayed created much laughter. After posing and smiling till our jaws ached, we had some vodka. Oh my.. it tasted heavenly. Chilled French cognac with lemon slices. Licks~ I want more, but too much would see me flying sky high.

It was an inarguably wonderful day for Mummy and of course, to see smiles on Mummy's face the entire day left us feeling good and satisfied. =)

Lead a life of goodness

A week filled with activities. Unfortunately, it took away the element of fun, leaving behind the element of business. Breaks were short and rushed, having to be back in office or the client's place to carry on the voluminous amount of work awaiting me.

Now, instead of hoping that time would pass in an instance, i yearned for more. Given the workload and tight datelines, it was impossible to finish them within working hours. As expected, only working overtime will see to it that all work gets done.

Nevertheless, every task i am assigned to do, is good working experience. A self admitted work-a-holic, i prefer to work than to idle around. Challenges are a source of motivation to work harder and they keep me going.

However, enjoyment would not be forsaken with weekly tennis and relaxation on Sundays. Some may judge my life as dull and boring, but i like it this way. I decide the route i take, i live in contentment.

Hail a cab?

Looking out from the clear glass windows of buses and trains, i used to envy those who could cab to their desired location. Often than not, they would race past the buses, which left me wondering how long more i would take to reach just my stop, not taking in the time i need to be on foot to arrive at my destination.

After i started on my internship, i became a frequent cab passenger. Now, i no longer envy them for things had taken a change. Though it is the most convenient form of public transport, my history of motion sickness casts dizzy spells on me everytime i take the cab. Personally, the comfort level of buses and trains far outweigh that of a cab.

Privacy wise, there is not much of a difference for the taxi driver would shoot you glances every once in a while. Sometimes, encountering chatty drivers can really put me off, especially those who look slightly perverse. A time of relaxation turned into an ear-wrenching moment, having to put up with the driver till i get to my destination.

Furthermore, the running meter burns a hole through my pockets. Worst still if the taxi driver drives slowly and stops at every traffic junction. Hallelujah to me. Bookings at morning and evening peak periods add to the list of why-i-should-not-take-a-cab.

At times, taxi drivers seem to be driving in a drunken stupor. The sudden jerks and weaves from one lane to another at top speed put one's heart at its mouth. One would heave a sigh of relief after getting out of the cab, which screeches loudly as it speeds off to another location. Pity the next victimised passenger.

Perhaps one of the plus points is being able to reach my destination without having to walk a long distance from the bus stop, especially after a gruelling day at work. Another would be the time when one's hands are filled with groceries and shopping bags. Or when destinations are not within walking distances from mrt stations or bus interchanges. Part with some money and get into the cab to save all the trouble.

Oh well, cabs...

Weekly Updates

Mondays don't seem that dreadful as compared to the past, though dragging myself to work, still occurs occassionally. Time flew past in an instant, continuously occupied with audit fieldwork and documentation. Every day sped past like no one's business.

Very quickly, friday arrived - the day everyone looked forward to. Meiling (senior) treated Brenda and i to a Korean lunch, as an early farewell meal for Brenda, who's leaving in two weeks' time. Thanks Meiling!

I guess i hadn't mentioned about Brenda all this while. Well, she's one of the TP interns attached to Boss' team. During this short period, both of us forged a close relationship which left us inseparable. Lol. Non-identical twins or sisters, that is.

I wonder how i will survive without my "left hand". A "handicapped" me would definitely miss her presence. Alright, that sounds a little too mushy, but seriously, she's a really nice friend i've come to meet. Extremely glad our paths crossed.

If the word "lesbian" ever crossed your mind, sorry, i'm not. Lol. Just that i treat her more like a sister than a friend. I'm going to cherish the two weeks left working with her and when we bid farewell, i suppose that's the last time we will meet. Until that day comes... Shall not think about it now.

Back to my weekly updates, the week had gone by pretty well, with a good evaluation by Boss which was seriously unexpected and a nice grade for my periodic report. Even a dilemma resolved without me having to think of a way out. It's been a good week, all the fun and laughter during work. ;)

Best Saturday Ever!

Woke up fresh and alert, ready to kick off the new day. I'm finally back to school to start off a project due 3 months down the road. How i missed going back to school...

Our project planning didn't last as long as we expected. Halfway through, all of us couldn't think any further. With BA Comm blasting songs, and we getting distracted by the familiar tunes, concentration was lost. Continuation would be a waste of time, so we called it a day. Brainstorming shall continue sometime next week.

Since it was still early and nearly 2 hours before my tennis session, i decided to meet up with Dave first. Went to Sim Lim Square to buy some computer parts for his laptop. Time flew past in a blinking of an eye and reached school just in time for a good game of tennis.

Tennis was fun! Perhaps performance was better compared to the other Saturdays. That drove me to play on and on. Dates wouldn't affect my play. So, save it guys. Haha. As it was running late, we grabbed some dinner before heading home.

I was a happy girl yesterday~

Bro's Birthday

Time flies. Bro turns 21 today. The realisation of bro striking adulthood is overwhelming. It just means mine's approaching soon. All the responsibilities piling. Just the other day, Daddy briefed me on his investments, and wanted me to handle them after he's gone. Hmm.. Lots of thoughts on this issue.

Back to bro turning 21, just like any other birthdays, we would have a mini celebration. Today's venue is Tampines Mall. Having decided on Dim Sum, we entered the restaurant but to our surprise, the menu does not have a wide variety of dishes. Had a simple fare and left.

Before we have our second round of lunch, i wanted to buy bro a wallet. Walked from Zinc to 77th Street but none was to his liking. Gave him some money and asked him to settle it himself. Haha.. Lacking sincerity but this is practicality.

Since bro was rushing for time, we went for our second round of lunch. This time, it's at Pizza Hut. Had my favourite sweet and spicy drumlets, and sausage pasta. Bel had the same. Daddy, mummy and bro shared a crispy crusted seafood sambal pizza. Holy cow.. it was so filling.

After bro left, we shopped around and went home. Tiring tiring. Now, it's time for some cake cutting and champagne savouring.

Happy Birthday Bro!!

This is Me

Temperament:
Flexible
Nothing seems to bother you - you sail through life crisis free. It's not that your life doesn't have its ups and downs, it's just that you handle everything without unnecessary drama and antics. You approach each day fresh, not worrying about yesterday or tomorrow. You are confident that you can handle anything that comes your way and experience has shown that you are absolutely right about this.

Interests:
Simple
You are continually pursuing a simpler and less complicated life - you don't allow yourself to fall victim to all of the "should do's" that society continually bombards you with. You are thoughtful about your life choices and think in terms of yourself, others and the world in which we live. You have a great sense that we are part of something much bigger and we must be good to others, if we want others and the world to be good to us.

Amusement:
Thoughtful
You are easily stressed out and overwhelmed - you need to take care of yourself first and foremost. Because you tend to be self reflective, you know your limits quite well and must remember to not exceed those limits. When you overwhelm your life with obligations and responsibilities, you tend to shut down and go into yourself even further. Take some time to find your serenity and kick back your feet.

Passion:
Physical
You are a cuddle bug - from a warm hug shared with your best friend to steamy sex with your partner, you enjoy every bit of human contact that you can get. You demonstrate your love for others most fluidly through physical one-on-one contact and you feel the most loved when you are being touched. You feel disconnected when you are physically isolated from others. You're a people person and a lover of all things human.

Bustling with activities

November crept in silently without my knowledge. October zoomed past like it never once came along. There are 3 more months before my attachment comes to an end. Yet again, the question on extending my time in EY is raised. Should i?

Here come the pros and cons. The amount i will be earning is attractive, at least to a part-timer. In addition, those few months will be spent fruitfully, picking up more skills along the way and taking up the challenge during the peak period. It will somehow prepare me for the future.

However, from another point of view, this is the period where people are most susceptible to sicknesses. And i'm prone to falling sick, which makes the extension less appealing. Eventually, a percentage of what i earn goes to the doctors instead.

Also, i dislike going home late when i have to work the following day. Without a doubt, this will definitely take place and with high frequency.

Furthermore, by that time, some of my seniors would have left. This makes acceptance of the offer more distant. Having created a bond with them, their leave would be hard on me in one way or another.

Not only that, after working continuously for 5 months, i would welcome any break that comes my way. I need time to polish up my tennis, i need more quality time with family and friends, i need more time to do what i missed out during the 5 months. I want to be back in control.

Sigh~ Since there are 3 more months for me to sort out this dilemma, i will buy my time. Eventually, i will have an answer to it. Right now, i shall not prick my mind with such groundless contemplations.
