Living for Money?

Each and every single morning, commuters pack the trains, getting squeezed and squashed just to accommodate those who persistently try to shove their way into the fully packed carriages. Many are buried in their free daily newspapers, browsing through the pages, with only a rare few taking the time to read the articles in full. Others kill time by catching up on insufficient sleep the previous night or blasting music into their ears to escape the buzz and noise surrounding them. When the train pulls into a station, curious eyes look up to see the busy exchanges at the doors. Once the doors slam shut, everyone returns back to their initial activity. The everyday life of a train commuter. How monotonous.

None looked eager nor happy to kick start a brand new day. Dull looking faces engulfed me, leaving me to ponder the need for human beings to go through all these trouble. What drove human beings to seek for a job, to lead a better life? Money?

The importance of money making is perhaps one of the top priorities in everyone's lives. Money to ease our hunger. Money to live under a shelter. Money to pay for the utilties. Money to pay for daily necessities. Money to dress. Money, money, money...

Without it, life's an agony. With it, life could vary between the extremes. Once a job is secured, money comes in, making ends meet. However, the wants get stronger. Hence, to lead a more comfortable life, people work their heads off to bear the results of higher income. Worth it?

A job merely to earn without having a passion for it sounds meaningless but sad to say, many are doing just that. Pathetic it may seem but that's practicality. Money truly does wonders...
