I was called in on Tuesday afternoon for an interview at SMU. Taking time off from work, i travelled to Cityhall and it was a mere five-minute walk from the train station. So, i was way too early for my interview. Met May May, one of NP school mates, at SMU. Chatted for awhile which took my mind off the nerve-racking interview. Name was called and into the room i went. Two interviewers, one was a graduating student while the other was a professor. I was bombarded with questions. The very first question the professor posed to me was "So what are you doing currently?" I blabbled about my job which earned me another question on the sub-prime crisis in US. "Do you think financial institutions in Singapore will face the same crisis?" Holy cow... luckily Daddy and i discussed about this issue before. This earned me bonus points. *Smiles* Questions spewed from their mouths. They were never-ending. The one and only question raised by the graduating student stumped me. "Will you be intimidated by SMU's style of learning? What will you do to prepare yourself?" I was dumb founded. Haha.. i gave a terrible answer but they were really encouraging. Kept nodding their heads when it didn't make any sense to me. Thanks to the professor, she equipped me precious knowledge on preparatory work which i render would come in handly in the near future. It was a pretty light-hearted session with the interviewers being nice and all. But to strike a chord with the interviewers was perhaps the most difficult yet crucial ingredient to excel in an interview. That's where impressions are created. I suppose i failed to perform up to that standard. In fact, a far cry from it. The interview lasted a good 15-20 minutes. And i screwed up the final part on me posing questions to them. My answers could be found in the information kit handed out during the Open House, which i obviously didn't attend. But all of that don't really matter now. My performance during the interview... the results of the interview... whether i'll be accepted into SMU... because... ...my application into NTU was successful! How i wished i could jump around upon hearing the news but i was stuck in a sardine packed train. Pretty embarrassing to do that sort of stuff. Imagine the little fireworks exploding in me... Wonderful feeling. Lifted up my mood instantly. That's one jubilant me. =)) Looking forward to 4th August when school term commences. Soooo happy! Posted by Lynette at |
