Sakura Buffet

Since i had ended my work stint at the bank, i tagged along with Daddy, Mummy and Babe to the temple to pray. It was my maternal grandfather's death anniversary. Years flashed by unknowingly. 13 years since he passed on... I still missed him occasionally. Back then, we would visit my grandparents weekly and he never failed to bring out his chess set and pit against bro. Of course he won. Bro was still in primary school then. How to fight?!

The serenity of the temple can't be compared to anywhere else in Singapore. Decibel negative. Followers were either busy meditating or reading books. Everyone was moving slowly and silently. Seemed so slow paced in the temple... This statement truly holds. "Want peace, go temple".

After praying, we walked to TPY hub for lunch. Sakura buffet! Inexpensive meal for 4 dined for the cost of 3. I loved the tempura. Yums. The rest of the food were average but there was a wide range of food to choose from. Not totally international buffet for i only saw Chinese, Western, lots of Japanese, a little Thai, one Malay dish [satay] and that's about it. Where's the Indian, Italian food?!

Ate till my stomach nearly burst. I'm not cut out to eat buffets. My stomach can't contain that much for one. And i usually eat what i like, not those expensive ones which can't exactly make up to the cost i paid for the meal. But who cares. As long as i enjoy. Lol.

Then headed to school with Babe to collect my deposit. Shit. Kena scolded by the lady. Such a bitch. Talk so much for what man. So bloody pissed off with her. Home with sweetie Babe. Her eyes must have popped for seeing so many good looking guys in her life. Busy commenting on those handsome ones she saw. =.= Girls...

NP Graduation Day 2008

The moment we had all been waiting for...

K lunch in the morning with Soonie, Stephie and Huiling. It was enjoyable. Wonder when will be the next...

Proceeded on to school for some photograph taking session. All of us were smartly dressed in formal wear. Everyone looked good. Then, it was time for to assemble in the LT.

Separated from all my friends. Oh well, what to do... Into the auditorium we went. The so-called graduates' procession. Those robes were horribly long and awfully big. The steps in the auditorium were so steep, it resulted in two girls tripping over their robes. Definitely embarrassing. That loud thud which caught everyone's attention. Gosh.

Watching the videos played on screen, seeing each and every of my friend walking up on stage to receive their scrolls, it was really heartwarming. I'm so gonna miss the times in Poly. They were the best years of my life, thus far.

Then came my turn. Looked calm and composed on the outside, i suppose. But internally, butterflies fluttering in my stomach. Glad to be off stage.

Top graduate, Zhe Ying, delivered his valedictorian speech. His look of nervousness.. Haha.. Besides the few words he stumbled upon, it was pretty succinct.

Time for more photograph shoots! We were so busy capturing final shots with friends, whom we know for sure, are not going to meet for a long period of time that we cleanly forgotten about the reception. Didn't matter to me. Just wanted to hang out with this big group of friends before all of us part ways.

We ended our snaps and flashes. Time for home. Goodbye was always the hardest word to say. Nevertheless, all the best to all poly mates in your future endeavours! Been great to know each and every one of you!

Bugis Shopping

Being a Sunday, i took the opportunity to go shopping. Though the feet sored from endless walking, the temptation was just too irresistible.

Having not done shopping in Bugis Street before, I was thrilled. It was time to take in the ongoing fashion on youngsters nowadays, besides getting myself some new clothes in preparation for Uni studies. The current wardrobe of mine is unseeable. Simply horrible.

After walking from one shop to another, I only bought myself 2 blouses and a bag. Loved the guy who sold me the bag at a discount. I'll remember u. Lol. Thanks to mummy's negotiating skills too!

Sis bought some clothes too, taking this golden opportunity to get herself a wider spectrum of clothings. Mummy's really strict in buying new clothes for her. Luckily, i'm free to get myself any clothes i want.

Went to the temple nearby to pray, had lunch and back to more shopping. This time round, it was in search of a suitable dress for my graduation dinner this coming Saturday.

They looked pretty hanging on their own. Had them on and I nearly choked. Terrible. Changed out of them and went on in search of more appropriate ones. A grey dress caught Babe’s eyes and she held it out for me. Hmm… looked not too bad in it. So that shall do. We were too lazy to carry on shopping for better ones. We were bushed.

Added a cardigan for I was too shy to bare my skin. Lol. Anyway, I have no date for the night [Stephie, if u ever read this… NO date. Lol], so it doesn’t really matter.

That concluded our shopping spree for the day. Dead beat.

Made of Honour

Most of my colleagues had left the office before it hit 6.30pm. The company was having its annual bowling tournament at Marina Square. Well, that somehow worked to my advantage.

Once the minute hand touched 6.30pm, i jolted out from my seat and was out of the office in a jiffy. I brisked walked to the mrt station to catch a train to AMK Hub.

The movie was to start at 7.05pm and i was nowhere near AMK Hub. And what luck, the train halted several times between Bishan and AMK, wasting my precious time. I had less than 5 minutes before the show started. Eugene and Chris were already there, waiting...

Things had to go unsmoothly whenever i'm in a hurry. Damn. Favoured the stairs to the escalators but there was this Indian woman who spoke on the phone, taking her own sweet time down the stairs, hogging it, preventing the crowd behind from getting down fast. Had that sudden urge to push her away man.. Pissed.

At the shopping centre, it was impossible to push my way through on the escalators. Totally filled with people and it's a place for leisure, don't wanna look dumb hurrying up the steps, gaining unwanted publicity.

Reached there slightly past 7.05pm. Went in with them and the show was just about to start. Nice. Hungrily ate the cuffy puff Eugene bought for me while watching the show: Made of Honour.

Ticklish moments were added to the movie every now and then. Really hilarious when Patrick Dempsey [Tom] knocked into the same waiter twice at the restaurant. Should have seen the waiter's expression. So damn funny.

Hit off with a lady [Hannah] he chanced upon during one Halloween night. Supposed to sleep the night with Hannah's roomie but was disgustedby her nauseate and slowly became close friends with Hannah.

10 years later, Tom still continued being a playboy, sleeping with different women each night. Never did one lasted more than 2 nights. Hung out with Hannah very often, taking it for granted that she's always there with him.

Until one day, she had to leave for Scotland for 6 weeks. Without her presence, he felt extremely uncomfortable, totally not used to it. He carried out the same actions he did with Hannah, with other women, but everyone failed him. Convinced he was in love with Hannah, he was going all out to confess his love to her.

Unfortunately, she returned from Scotland with her soon-to-be husband. Shocked and unhappy with her sudden decision, he was wavering with his decision to declare his love. Backed by his good basketball buddies who continually offered him suggestions, once again, he was determined to tell.

Being made the Maid of Honour [MOH] in Hannah's wedding, he learnt the 12 ways of becoming the perfect MOH. Time and again, he tried to bring the topic out but failed to. In the end, just a day before her marriage, there was a Scottish practice to get kisses.

Hannah kissed each man she saw in the bar and they dropped coins into her pot. Then came Tom's turn. Stared into each other's eyes and slowly, their lips came together. Did a passionate kiss and Hannah lost control, dropping her pot of coins. Hurriedly, they scooped up the scattered coins and placed them back into the pot.

Later in the night, Tom did confess a little but Hannah was too upset. She was troubled.

Night fell, day broke. Tom left, unable to carry out his duties as a MOH any longer. Hannah and her bf [who's a duke in Scotland] took the stand at the church. Tom turned around and rode on a horse, back to the church where Hannah was supposed to marry.

The horse ride was horrendous, flinging him off the horse and crashed into the church. Landed flat on his face. Hannah hurried over where he slowly pull himself together and made a love confession. They kissed there and then, bringing smiles to her mother's face. Shocked the entire crowd, even her soon-to-be husband. His parents were furious.

Apologies came from Hannah to the Duke. For destroying the marriage, the Duke delivered a blow into Tom's face. He crumbled to the ground. Haha.. Back in New York, both of them wedded... A happy ending once again.

Sweet sweet love.

25th Wedding Anniversary

The clock struck 12. It's Daddy and Mummy's special day of the year. Celebrating 25 years of togetherness, that's a milestone all couples wish to hit with their other half. Unfortunately, not too many couples had the chance to achieve that.

Oh well, i took the day off to accompany Daddy and Mummy [upon their request]. Waking up late on a weekday was great! Haha.. Been long since i did that.

Met Babe at Causeway Point for lunch. Dine in Ichiban Sushi. Food was fairly good. I loved the baked yellowtail fish. Succulent and naturally sweet. Had my all time favourite salmon sashimi too. Still prefer Sakae's salmon sashimi. Picked several plates of sushi from the conveyor belt. Jellyfish... Scallop... Raw salmon... Ohhh~ Mouth watering food. In addition to what's mentioned, we even had Gyoza [vegetable dumplings], black pepper beef set, salmon miso soup, baked curry udon and black pepper chicken set. All of that summed up to $100. >.<

Could tell from Mummy's face that she thoroughly enjoyed eating the fishes. She devoured the yellowtail, reducing it to bones. Daddy and i enjoyed looking at her tear the fish apart with her pair of chopsticks, gnawing at each piece of fish she popped into her mouth, giving us that 'can-you-do-what-i-just-did' look. What came out next were merely bones. It was immaculate. Adorable mummy. =)

Full from lunch, we walked around, trying to search for a suitable grad gown for me. Tried on a gold dress which looked pretty hanging at its rack but when i had it on, it looked disastrous. Mummy couldn't stifle her laughter. Shit. I looked like a balloon in it. Yeah, i know i do NOT have what it takes to carry it well. The rest of which we looked at were too sexy. Barebacks, tubes, plunging necklines... I would wrap myself up if i ever wear any of that.

In the end, i only got myself a pair of heels. Now, it's 2 inches high. Gonna have problems walking in it. Time for some practice.

Babe bought herself a pair of jeans and tee. Looked good on her. Slim and tall. Read out Soonie/Stephie's message to her. If i can STEAL one thing from her, that would be it. Sadly, it's impossible. Heartbreaking... Lol

Got some stuff in CS before we headed home. Hope Daddy and Mummy enjoyed this special day.

*HAPPY 25th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!*

Pre Wedding Anniversary Celebrations

One celebration after another. First was Stephie's. Now comes Daddy and Mummy's. Their wedding anniversary is round the corner. Since it was a public holiday on Monday, we went for a meal at Golden Mile Complex.

Unfortunately, Bro had to work and couldn't join us. Too bad, so sad. Nevertheless, we had steamboat for 4. Side dishes included pork chop, noodles and satay. It was F.I.L.L.I.N.G but extremely delicious. Ate to the extent where the skin of the tummy was so taut and felt as if a bomb's about to explode, firing its fragmented shards against the stomach wall.

With our Uncle rushing us, we hurriedly finished our food and left. Or rather, Daddy footed the bill before we left. We met our Uncle and Granduncle at the roadside. They picked us up and i was squeezed in the backseat. There was no room for my humongous butt. I resorted to half squatting at the only space available and rammed my knee into the driver's armrest. Holy shit. OUCH!

I had to stay in that position till we got home. Luckily, i had my MP3 with me. Tuned in to 88.3 radio station and sang with Babe. My Uncle even sang along! Lol. Hip hip uncle.

It was a freaking long journey for we visited several more places [without getting off the taxi] before heading home. My legs died on me. Upon reaching, i limped out of the taxi, trying to ease the numbness. It sure was torturing.

Stephie's 21st Birthday

♥ HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY STEPHIE! ♥

Stephie's birthday party rocked! It was hella lot of fun. The very first 21st birthday party i attended... Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. Thanks alot Stephie!

Since she was the star of the day, she was dressed gorgeously in a tube dress. Wooo~ Never seen her clad in a dress before, lest a tube. Sexy babe. LOL. First reaction? Totally surprised. Lost for words. Soonie and i went "So she wears a dress, a tube! If only we knew..."

Soonie, Ain, Xing Juan and Ying Ying turned up as well. There's only one word suitable to describe us. CRAZY. Absolutely crazy. We were turning Stephie's room into a madhouse. Not literally but with the amount of noise we made, it was almost equivalent. Stephie's mum even walked to the doorway to inspect. Lol. Oops.

Had a great time catching up and teasing one another. Been a long while since all of us actually sat down together, under such relaxed circumstance to chat about our well beings throughout these few months. Imagine how we turned from strangers 3 years ago into such whacky friends.

Laughter spilled across the room frequently. Stephie joined us occasionally for she had to entertain her other guests. Poor host. Running in and out of the room every now and then. Midway, she ushered us to the buffet area.

Let's see what we had. Pineapple rice, stewed broccoli, deep fried breaded fish, stewed beancurd with mixed veg, chilli chicken wings, siew mai, crispy fried prawn roll... I can't remember the entire menu but i guess that's more or less the dishes spreaded out on the table. And there's barley water. Wanted to go for a second round but too paiseh. Heh...

Then came cake-cutting time! Happy birthday to u~~~ lalala~~ Her beetle cake. Colourful looking beetle with brown wheels, yellow top, green bonnet and blue windows. Car plate number: 180508. Buy Toto or 4D. Birthday girl's luck will be with you. And i still thought her dad bought her a real VW. Haha! Oi... Stephie, nice one eh.

Yummy cake. The car was left with its boot after distribution. But it was really tasty. Who dared to ask for a second portion? "Auntie, can i have a second piece pleaseeeee?" Attract stares from all around. That's what we would get. Done with the chocolate cake, we bade goodbye.

Simply wonderful. Happy 21st Stephie! Morphed from a teen to an adult liao. HAHAHA! We are still young, Soonie =)

Busy yet Lazy Sat

Saturday:
Aroused by the morning sun, i reluctantly dragged myself off the bed. It was time for rise and shine. Felt really lazy and sleepy for i hung out till too late on Friday night. How much i wanted to sleep in... With all the tasks i needed to attend to, i could not fulfill that desire of mine.

Wrapped Baobao's present, which was to be passed to her later in the afternoon. Hurriedly packed my bag for tennis and right after lunch, i was out of the door.

Met up with Stephie, Soonie and Xing Juan. Collected the graduation gown which looked enormous on me. I tried to get a size smaller but was outrightly rejected. That lady... Oh well, nevermind her. Saw Baoyi too. Seemed to be in a hurry to somewhere else. Little exchange of words and poof, she's gone.

Ying Ying came slightly later with ahem ahem... Once again, she screamed into our ears. Oh my.. piercing screams. Would have burst my ear drums if i hadn't cupped my ears. Short affair in school and off we went.

Soonie and i took a long bus ride down town. I'm still quite lost in town. Shopped in that rich man's world where i felt so out of place. Got nothing there and headed to another nearby shopping centre. Managed to get what we wanted and we parted ways. Poor Soonie. Had to lug that big paper bag home. Lol. So sorry...

Met Dave at PS. Thanks for making me walk such a long distance. My feet were sore from that endless walk. Took a bus back to school for tennis. By then, i was out of energy. All that walking for the past 2-3 hours had me drained.

Played an hour of tennis and was beaten down by hunger. Got changed and headed to Bukit Timah Food Centre for dinner with Dennis and Dave. Had my spaghetti finally. Licks~

PS Dave. Hahaha! I was tired and yearning to get home asap, you see. Whichever bus came first, i took. Too bad Dave, 171 arrived earlier. Hopped on with Dennis. Chatted till he alighted. Afterwhich, i slept till i reached the interchange with one thigh burning and the other freezing. [Only Dennis will understand. Haha...]

Home Sweet Home!

KTV PartyWorld @ Orchard

Friday:
KTV PartyWorld @ Orchard

Craving for singing sessions, my colleagues [all of whom are much older than me, except for one] organised a night out at Orchard to sing to our hearts' filled.

Everything's pretty much different from the KBox outlets i've visited. Bigger and cosier rooms with better reverberations. Drinks came in larger portions as well, together with fruits and chips. The selection of songs was fairly simple. Since i was inexperienced in using the remote control, it was slightly irritating to scroll down to the singer whose surnames fell between the alphabets A and Z. Imagine scrolling all the way to L...

Oh well, just that little glitch there. Other than that, PartyWorld is pretty worth visiting for singing sessions. The price is steeper than KBox though.

My manager was high once he started singing. Lol. To hit the high keys, his free hand would flap or clench into a fist. Somehow that would help him?

All of us enjoyed the session thoroughly and were in discussion to hold the next.

Looking forward to the next singing session. Any takers? Haha...

Mother's Day (10/11 May 2008)

To avoid the crowds at public places on Sunday, Daddy decided to celebrate Mother's Day a day earlier.

It was a spiced-up dinner. Sambal stingray, sambal squid, spicy fish stir fried with bittergourd, satay and crabs. Drinks were a must to ease the burning sensations in the mouth. Super delicious but super unhealthy. Haha..

Hope Mummy liked it. She surprised us by drinking 2 glasses of beer. OMG! First time seeing her drink. Carrying out my duties as a daughter, i offered to lug her home in case the beer drugged her brains. She did blush but was still sober. Amazing. Lol.

On the actual day, we ordered PIZZA!! My favourite! From the time we dailed the hotline to the time the food arrived at our doorstep, it was almost 2 hours long. We called since 5.30pm but only managed to get our orders in at 6.30pm. That's how busy the lines were.

Nevertheless, we had hot pipping pizza accompanied with honey roasted wings, bread stixs, sweet & spicy drumlets and baked sausage mania pasta. Thumbs up! Glad mummy loved the Chicken Bonanza pizza. It was her favourite. All that chicken chunks... Made us crave for more.

Two mouth watering dinners all for Mother's Day. =)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Dave's 20th Birthday Celebration

It’s Mr. Dave Jeow’s 20th birthday!

Coincidentally, it fell on a Sunday and the four of us, namely Chris, Dave, Eugene and I, headed to AMK for a Kbox session. Dave’s favourite. Well, ours too. Lol. Though it was a session slightly shorter than before, it was fun! We were allocated a room right opposite the executive’s, which was humongous with a capital H.

Sang to our hearts delight. Solos… duets… and bands. I loved Chris’ rendition of ‘Nan Ren Hai Yang’, a love ballad sung popular by Zhou Chuan Xiong. Oh so nice… Haha.

Towards evening, we took a bus down to Marina Square for dinner at Hot Pot Culture. Food wasn’t that bad, neither was it all that fantastic. Among all the dishes, my favourite was the BBQ pork. We ordered 2 plates of that. Yums~

We ordered cooked food, which took a million years to arrive. Thinking that they were long forgotten by the chefs, we made a second order. Shit. They came in double portions after awhile. Now, we had more to finish. The guys were filling themselves up with food. Hahaha! I just gave up. Didn’t want to torture my already dying stomach.

The price was slightly steep and no drinks were included, not even ice water. Damn. Water rationing even took place. Precisely because the drinks were pretty expensive and MSG seemed to have been poured generously into the soup. Water was scarce. The only alternative left was watermelons!! A tray filled with it and within seconds, all were gone – onto our plates. We gobbled down the pieces of watermelon like some kids who had just escaped from the desert, deprived of water.

But it was a whole new experience. A mini hot pot for each person, and the choice of soup was of personal preference. Hot and spicy was pretty nice. Sour and ohhh~~ made the taste buds leap from their positions. Chicken base was the usual that we had at hawker centers and food courts.

Hope Dave enjoyed it. Buffets no more. As Dave put it, “I’ve never felt so vulnerable without water in my life.” Lol.
