My second visit to the doctor in less than a week. The prescribed medication didn't work on me very well and yes, i'm not fully recovered as yet. Red and swollen throat, nasal congestion, incessant cough and full body aches. Thankfully the fever didn't come. So now, this flu robbed me two weeks of holidays. It seems like it will jeopardize my final week of holidays as well. Life can't get any worse. At home, boredom is driving me nuts. I have a number of outdoor activities i haven't got about doing. Oh man... Notwithstanding, being at home with Daddy and Mummy is pretty fun :) Lots of teasing and laughing.. Probably that's one reason my sore throat doesn't cure. Haha.. In addition to that, i have lots of reading time to spare. None of which is preparation for the new semester though. Lol. Enough said, hopefully this flu clears up in time in return for my freedom. He was the man who chauffeured Daddy and Mummy during their wedding. He was the man who watched me grow up. He was the man who constantly spread joy and happiness to the people around him. On 23 July 2009, he was rid of his sufferings and left peacefully. He was 64. Shortly after grandma's death in December 2008, he was diagnosed with cancer. The cancerous cells were relentless. Within three months, they attacked his lungs and invaded his bloodstream. Just five months and he was no longer with us. It was heartwrenching to see him leave, but at the same time, we were relieved he was finally released from his sufferings. I then realised how deeply death emphasized the fragility of life. One moment he was there smiling and laughing his heart out. The next moment, he is lying peacefully in the coffin, still and feeble looking. As i grow older, i hear of more deaths. It signals my closeness to death. Although it is part and parcel of life, sometimes, it's too much to bear. Just Friday, i caught the infotainment episode of 'I shouldn't be alive 2'. It pained me to watch the final two days of how this 15 year old teenager struggled his way to the Colorado River in Grand Canyon. Each minute, he was inching nearer to his death. Eventually, he dropped dead from heatstroke. It struck me real hard. Every second that you and i are living is extremely important. There are so many things i have not gone about doing. Composing a song of my own, playing a perfect piano piece, volunteering my time to community work, doing my part for the family... Death may come knocking on my door anytime, as much as yours does. It's inevitable yet frightening. Cherish those around. That's what everyone always say. Sometimes, only when death strikes will people cherish the moment and very soon after, all will be forgotten and back to the routine. That's just human. Uncle Harry, you will always be remembered for your radiance and warm spirit. Rest in peace. Posted by Lynette at

Addicted to badminton recently. Stephie, it's all your fault! Haha.. *Winks* Enjoyed a 2 hour session of badminton with both Stephie and Huiling on Monday morning. Shortly after i reached home, flu-like symptoms started developing. Despite the sore throat, flu and cough, i was lucky i didn't develop fever. Or that would spell more trouble. Visited the doc on Thursday when the symptoms refused to subside. Fortunately, it was merely the seasonal flu bug. However, because of me, Sentosa trip had to be cancelled! I'm so sorry, gals. Really very guilty about that. Thankfully, the gals were understanding. :) At least another two days before i complete my prescribed course of antibiotics. Meanwhile, i'm confined at home. Uber bored... Posted by Lynette at

Rackets all the same but the sports are nothing alike. Lightning reflexes, well trained skills and techniques are required to play the sport well. Badminton, the all-time favourite during my primary and secondary school days, had long left me. Blame it on tennis. Along with Stephie and her two friends (whom i couldn't quite catch their names), we played doubles rally. A rather interesting play. The best few minutes of play were with Stephie. Haha.. One versus one. Faster paced game. That's what i like. Two hours were over in a blink of an eye. And it was time for lunch at a nearby coffeeshop. Energy replenisher for SJ :) Posted by Lynette at

It was one of the rarest moments where the entire family caught a movie together. Unfortunately, Ice Age 3 wasn't as good as i thought it would be. An occasional laugh to mask the numerous boring scenes. No roars of laughter in the theatre except for this little boy who was easily amused. Apparently, he was funnier than the movie itself. Sadly, it wasn't as laughter stimulating as i expected. Right after the movie, it was dinner at Eighteen Chefs. The menu selection was intriguing. You can be your own chef! That means you can select your choice of rice/pasta, base and ingredients. So cool man. But no, i didn't try that. Ala carte was our choice. Another factor that made me love the restaurant was the choice of staff. Delinquents and youths-at-risk quote unquoted, to wait and serve. Tattoos and all but they are extremely polite and helpful. One even tried to crack a joke when he served us ice-creams. Haha.. interesting fellows. And the boss was formerly trained at Jamie Oliver's! The one and only Singaporean to do so. How cool is that :) Food: Acceptable A good choice for students because the set lunch costs only $6+ for a pasta/baked rice, drink and soup. If i didn't remember it wrongly. The weather wasn't a letdown. In fact, it was such a good sport, i ended up getting sunburnt. Time for another skin changing period. The thought of going through the itch and pain once more is miserable. Oh man... God bless if skin cancer doesn't find its way to this potential carrier. Cycled at ECP with Eugene and Leonard. I clocked an all-time record of 20km in 2.5 hours. The pleasure in cycling were washed out by torture. I was totally drained on our route back. Quicker paddling was necessary to meet the time limit. Of course, we weren't able to, because of me. Nevertheless, both the guys were extremely encouraging. Haha.. thanks dudes. And thankfully, the uncle decided not to charge us for overtime. Phew... Legs were wobbly after cycling. They nearly crumbled when i climbed up and down the stairs. I'm bound to suffer from lower body aches starting tomorrow. Damn. BK Whopper meal was a much needed energy replenisher. Coke tasted heavenly as a thirst quencher for once in my life. Afterwhich, we adjoured to Toa Payoh Safra Club to play 'Left 4 Dead' with Chris' company. I can never outplay the guys. The time i spent making 360-degree turnabouts was more than the time i spent killing zombies. It was horribly fun but i'm not cut out for it, unfortunately. That's a second record for the day - 2.5 hours of lan gaming. Not that i'm proud of. Haha... Dinner time! But Whopper was owning my stomach still. Nonetheless, i downed a plate of noodles for the sake of eating. Bad bad bad. And it's time for home! My bathroom awaits me! Posted by Lynette at

Lunched at Tsubohachi. A Japanese restaurant subdivided into three adjacent mini restaurants. Interesting concept. Very quiet in there except for the continuous play of background music. We were perhaps the group that added life to the restaurant. Food was moderately good. Personally favoured the seafood omelette Bao bao ordered. Yums~ Soonie spotted an entirely new hairstyle which left us totally amazed. That's a bold move, Soonie. Haha... Kudos to you. Bao bao and my hairstyles are nothing compared to hers. So funky and a tinge of punk. The girl turned man. Lol. Oops.. Stephie, time for you to have a new haircut too. Haha... all of us did it this week. So it's your turn now. Back to topic, Tranformers! Highlight of the day! One word for it. FANTABULOUS. 2.5 hours was barely enough. It didn't feel like 2.5 hours ticked by. Definitely worth the money. The sound effects were so extensive, they shook our seats. Optimus Prime rocked my socks. Coolest character in the show, at least to me. Commander-in-chief, that handsome... heh heh.. I didn't drool, thankfully. Bumblebee was adorable. And Baobao was laughing so loudly. Lower down your volume, girl. Lol. ![]() If there's a third instalment, i'm sure to catch it. Such a waste i missed the first. Oh well.. anyway, i'm lazy to blog further. Haha.. Transformer's slogan to date: TRANSFORMERS - ROBOTS IN DISGUISE Posted by Lynette at

The humidity in Singapore is getting on my nerves. With my hair slowly inching its way down my back, i can hardly bear the heat any longer. And so, today, i went to have my hair snipped off. Not totally, no intention to go bald and be associated with some charity "stunts" like many other women do. An estimated length of 4 inches were cut off. It always feels good after a hair cut. Not only do i feel my head no longer weighing me down, it's also easier to manage and far more cooling. In addition, i am now spared from my parents' naggings. Not because they asked me to have my hair cut, but because the ends of my hair happen to be hungry whenever i have my meals. Dipping into soups, taking a lick at my rice... I bet you can imagine that. So yes, enough of the maddeningly long hair (at least to me it was), they were snipped off. Come to think of it, it took a year to grow to the length i previously had and less than an hour to have it removed. And within the same time period, it was reduced to a non-living thing and lost its thread of life. The magic of scissors. Haha.. what lame sh*t am i crapping about? In any case, Bao Bao and i will be showing off our new hairdos on Thursday to our lovely darlings. Actually, not anything new on my side.. just reverting back to my old hairstyle before it grew. But i can't say the same for Bao Bao. We are (i hope) in for a surprise, right? *Giggles* Posted by Lynette at

The Hokkaido Fair advertisement spread over a page of the newspapers caught our eyes. Everyone unanimously agreed to shop at Tampines Mall on Sunday. An oily stench lingered in the atrium. In the end, we only circled the perimeters of the fair, watching people queue for ice-creams and manju cakes. I suppose they were the cheapest and most affordable food at the fair. A cup of seafood chawamushi was going for S$9! Freaking expensive. Settled for lunch in the food court. Our favourite Northern Indian cuisine - nan with tandoori chicken and different types of curry! Had it both for lunch and dinner :) Shopping time! Bought plently of stuff from Isetan, Esprit and Valerie. Cost Daddy almost $700! Holy cow... Really had a good time shopping. Got another top and a pair of slippers for myself :) Wardrobe revamp in process. Heh heh.. That's a wonderful Sunday out with Daddy, Mummy and Babe. *Hugs* For those interested in the Hokkaido Fair at TMall, here's the url: Posted by Lynette at

Intruded into the couple's date on Thursday by tagging along to BPP. Arranged to meet Babe for lunch at Swensen's. Food was moderately good except for its portion. Too little for our liking. Swensen's signature desserts not to be missed. Go for the student's meal at 2.30pm and get 2 ice-cream sundaes of your choice for $9.80 only! Worth the money. Hardly did any apparel shopping. With parents, it's always the supermarket. Haha.. The NTUC there is pretty huge and cooling. Freezing cold after so many ice-creams. Nonetheless, it was a fun trip. For the record, 500 posts to date! Yay! Posted by Lynette at |
